Our Ceremonies, Your Experience

Friday 7th May, 2027 | Pre-Wedding Ceremonies

What to know

A Haldi ceremony is a traditional Indian pre-wedding ritual where a paste made from turmeric is applied to the bride and groom by family and friends.

This symbolic blessing is believed to cleanse, protect, and prepare the couple for marriage, while also bringing a natural glow to the skin.

It’s a joyful, informal celebration filled with laughter, music, and togetherness, often set against a backdrop of yellow tones that represent happiness, prosperity, and new beginnings.

To keep the Haldi intimate and relaxed, this celebration will be reserved for guests staying at the hotel only.

Haldi

What to wear

We’d love guests to wear Indian or Western summer garden party attire in warm, golden tones inspired by sunshine and turmeric.

Think shades of marigold, saffron, turmeric, and rich golden yellow.

Flowing dresses, linen sets, kurtas, sarees, co-ords, and relaxed summer occasion wear are all welcome. Light, breathable fabrics are ideal for a relaxed outdoor celebration.

As this is a joyful and playful ceremony, please also be mindful that turmeric may stain clothing - so choose something you’re happy to get a little golden!

What to know

The Sangeet is a lively pre-wedding celebration where music, dance, and joy take centre stage.

It is a joyful coming together of both families through performance, singing, and shared celebration, filled with energy, laughter, and excitement for the wedding ahead.

We will begin the evening with Garba, a traditional Gujarati folk dance performed in circles, symbolising unity, rhythm, and the cycle of life.

Following this, we’ll host a karaoke disco - we’d love our guests to take the stage, sing, perform, or simply cheer everyone on.

It’s all about fun, expression, and celebrating together.

What to wear

To embrace Indian festive glamour for the evening, think Bollywood sparkle, colour, and celebration.

Lehengas, sarees, shararas, kurtas, and Indo-Western fusion outfits are all welcome.

If you prefer Western attire, we encourage bold, colourful, and celebratory looks - sequins, metallics, jewel tones, and statement pieces all fit perfectly.

Please avoid red and white, as this is reserved for the couple.

Saturday 8th May, 2027 | Main Wedding Celebration

Baraat

What to know

The Baraat is a cheery wedding procession where the groom makes his grand entrance to the ceremony accompanied by music, dancing, and celebration.

Traditionally led by the groom’s family, we would love for all guests to join in the procession and celebrate alongside Hamish.

Expect lively music, dancing, and plenty of energy as we make our way into the wedding festivities together.

It is a vibrant celebration of unity, excitement, and the coming together of two families before the ceremony begins.

What to wear

As the Baraat marks the beginning of our wedding day celebrations, guests will remain in their wedding ceremony attire throughout - see below for full dress code details.

The procession will last approximately 30 minutes and, as we’re planning for a beach ceremony, we recommend sensible footwear suitable for sand and outdoor paths (while still ready to dance, of course!).

Sorry to say Crocs are a no…

Mandap Cermony

What to know

The Mandap ceremony is the heart of a traditional Hindu wedding, where the couple exchange vows beneath the mandap, a beautifully decorated ceremonial canopy symbolising shelter, home, and the joining of two families.

Across the ceremony, a series of sacred rituals and blessings will take place, each representing different aspects of marriage, family, unity, and lifelong partnership.

At the centre of the mandap sits the sacred fire, which acts as a divine witness to the marriage and symbolises purity, strength, and prosperity.

Throughout the ceremony, we will take part in traditions including the welcoming of the groom, blessings from our families, sacred prayers, the joining of hands, and the Seven Sacred Steps around the fire, where we make our vows and commitments to one another as husband and wife.

This deeply meaningful ceremony celebrates not only our marriage, but also the coming together of our families, traditions, and cultures in one shared celebration.

What to wear

We’d love guests to embrace elegant, colourful occasion wear inspired by the sea, gardens, and vibrant Indian celebration.

Think elevated coastal wedding style; beautifully dressed, expressive, and full of colour, without the formality of black tie or white tie. Indian and Western formalwear are equally welcome.

Pastel yellow is reserved for the bridal party, however pastel blues, pinks, greens are warmly encouraged alongside brighter tones such as hot pink, coral, orange, rich blues, jewel tones, and bold botanical prints.

Florals are very welcome for all - the brighter, bolder, and more joyful, the better.

As this is a beach and garden wedding, we recommend elegant footwear suitable for outdoor settings and coastal paths.

To help create the atmosphere we envision for the day, we kindly ask guests to avoid black, red, and white attire.

A Guide to Indian Wedding Fashion: Attire, Accessories, & More

We know that for some of our guests, this may be their first time exploring Indian attire, and we’re here to help! This page is filled with inspiration, style ideas, and helpful websites to guide you in finding your perfect outfit. We've also included some tips on traditional styles and key accessories to help you feel your best while honouring the celebration.

If you have any questions, need assistance with your shopping, or are unsure about anything related to the attire, please don’t hesitate to reach out - we’d be happy to assist!

Sarees

The saree is one of the most iconic and traditional outfits in India. It consists of a long piece of fabric (usually 6 to 9 meters) that is draped around the body, usually with a blouse (choli) and a petticoat underneath. Sarees come in a wide variety of fabrics, colors, and embellishments (like embroidery, zari work, or sequins).

Womens

Lehenga

The lehenga is a traditional outfit consisting of a long skirt (lehenga), a fitted blouse (choli), and a dupatta (scarf). It is often worn with heavy embroidery, sequins, and embellishments.

Salwar Kameez

The salwar kameez is a more comfortable and versatile option. It consists of a long tunic (kameez) paired with loose-fitting pants (salwar) and a matching dupatta. This outfit can be simple or elaborate, with embroidery, prints, and embellishments.

Anarkali Dress

Anarkali is a type of long, flowing dress that flares out from the waist, resembling a gown. It is often made of luxurious fabrics like silk or velvet and is highly embellished with embroidery and sequins.

Jewellery

Indian weddings are known for their beautiful and intricate jewellery. Women often wear jewellery sets that include necklaces, earrings, bangles, maang tikka (headpiece), and bindi (forehead decoration). Choose jewellery that complements your outfit, and don’t hesitate to go for a statement piece!

Footwear

Women can wear traditional juttis, mojris, or sandals, which are comfortable yet stylish. Avoid high heels if you plan to dance and move around a lot.

Kurta-Pajama

A long tunic-style top (kurta) paired with straight pants (pajama). Choose festive colours and breathable fabrics like cotton or linen for daytime events, or opt for silk and embroidered kurtas for more festive vibes.

Mens

Kurta with Nehru Jacket

A kurta-pajama set with a structured, collarless vest-style jacket on top. Mix textures—like a silk jacket over a cotton kurta—and play with colour contrasts (e.g. kurta with a floral or printed jacket).

Achkan or Bandhgala Suit

A more structured and Western-influenced version of a sherwani, with a sleek, tailored look and high collar. Pair with fitted trousers and loafers or jodhpur shoes for a polished look.

Accessories

You can absolutely accessorise just as you would for an English wedding, but Indian weddings also welcome a bit more flair. Don’t be shy to add a brooch, chain or necklace for a stylish, festive touch!

Avoid smart watches.

Footwear

Juttis or mojaris are classic picks. Loafers or formal dress shoes work well with Indo-Western or tailored suits. Sandals are also acceptable for our wedding.

Avoid trainers, flip flops and other casual footwear.
